It’s almost cherry blossom photography tour season in Japan. However, this year comes with a special notice. One thing that years of living and leading photography tours in Japan means closely observing weather conditions and the environment for photography. This year all signs point to Japan’s sakura reaching full bloom approximately 10 - 15 days earlier due to the unseasonably warm winter in 2019.
Normally, Spring Cherry Blossoms flowers remain on the trees about a week due to warm weather before they flutter from the branches as they fall in the hundreds and sometimes thousands; the beautiful scene that is created closely resembles the appearance of snow with the benefit of the spring’s sweet aroma.
In February, Japan’s late winter cherry flowers, the Kawazu Sakura Cherry flowers, remain on the trees for about a three-four weeks; they remain so long on the trees due to the comparatively cooler temperatures. Those who are traveling with Blain Harasymiw Photography or my affiliated companies during April's Cherry Blossom Season don't have to worry because we have already adjusted our schedules to account for the early bloom.
