My wife, Niki and I, were fortunate to spend part of our summer exploring Japan. Our guides were Blain Harasymiw and his wife, Manami. After traveling together, I can say that we are now good friends, as well.
Blain and Manami put together a wonderful itinerary for us, based on their research of my website and many e-mails. We made it clear that we did not want to travel to any of the large cities or coastal areas. We wanted to explore the highlands, where it is generally much cooler in the summer, and small villages where we could get a taste of the spirit of the samurai and the shogunate (feudal Japanese military government).

Japan Cherry Blossom Cross Country Photo Tour
“New Zealand has its share of natural marvels, but on my tour, I photographed parts of nature that only exist in Japan. Blain helped us chase cherry blossoms all across the country. Part of the fun was seeing where we would end up next to take photos. We also had a chance to sample some delicious food when we took a break from snapping photos. We had more than a few questions, but Blain happily answered all our questions while we were in the field. We were also able to indulge in luxurious, private hot springs to refresh ourselves at the end of each day’s adventure.
