Viewing and photographing the most beautiful Japanese sakura or cherry blossoms on a Japan cherry blossom photo tour will be best accomplished by taking a cross-country adventure because cherry blossoms flourish at different times depending on which region of Japan you are visiting.  満開 ‘Mankai’, or full bloom sakura can be separated by days even months depending on what part of Japan you’re visiting.  Japan is over 3,000 kilometers long with 6,852 islands and that means diversity in everything, wildlife and plant life; Japan’s wildlife is incredibly diverse and has flourished for millennia.  To catch the cherry blossoms in full bloom, one needs to ceaselessly check seasonal weather charts months ahead of the planned cherry blossom photo tour as the weather is the key in determining when the blossoms will be in perfect bloom, but not just ahead of the workshop but also during because Japan’s weather can vary dramatically from region to region.  Many tourist and international photographers visiting Japan make a big mistake of choosing a photography agency once they arrive in Japan thinking every experience will be the same.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but after more than two and a half decades of experience in Japan leading Cherry Blossom photography nature tours and workshops, I know that kind of laissez-faire itinerary planning will almost definitely lead to disappointment, but if you happen to catch the perfect cherry blossom, you are super luck - beyond lucky!  The moment after you’ve taken your last photo, you should go and buy a lottery ticket because that will be the luckiest day of your life.  Mother Nature has her own timing, and that means being mobile in pursuit of the perfect sakura.
