Happy Spring Equinox and a happy first day of spring from Japan, and to those in the Southern Hemisphere a happy first day of autumn. Today the length of night and day are nearly equal. The days will now become longer in the higher latitude regions because it takes the sun longer to rise and set. I am looking forward to spring and our annual cross country cherry blossom photo tour, currently I am leading another private Hokkaido Winter Photography tour. Interestingly in the south Spring officially arrived in Tokyo the week before last as the Meteorological Agency declared the start of the cherry blossom season. This year's cherry blossoms appeared in Tokyo nine days earlier than average, due to warm weather the first weeks of March. Even more interesting I received a call from my staff this evening who are leading an early Cherry Blossom Tokyo Photo Tour, and they have reported freezing cold temperatures and Snow in Tokyo this evening. But the cold air mass weather system is fast moving, and warm spring-like temperatures will return to the capital tomorrow. If you have any questions or would like to join me on a Japan photo tour please feel free to contact me!
